Uber Bangalore launches uberCOMMUTE service in city limits to provide earning opportunity to private car owners who is commuting alone to their destination.
Uber car pool is already launched in Bangalore and Delhi but this COMMUTE option is different , this allows to run your own private vehicle as taxi in certain cases and certain timings and allows you to earn some extra bucks or save some fuel charges while moving to your destination.

WHO CAN CARPOOL WITH UBER?
Anyone with a valid drivers license and national ID. Once we have your ID, we’ll put your application through our screening process. You must have all personal car documents including insurance and your car must be in good working condition.
WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED?
Private driving license, an ID proof (passport, voter ID or Aadhar card), vehicle registeration, valid vehicle insurance.
DOES THE CAR HAVE TO BE A SEDAN OR IS THERE A PARTICULAR VEHICLE TYPE?
It can be any make and model in good condition. Remember riders will be rating their experience on a trip with you – so keep it classy!
WHAT IF MY CAR IS REGISTERED ON SOME ONE ELSE’S NAME?
As long as they hold valid documents required to commute with Uber and you have a No Objection Certificate from the owner
CAN I BRING OTHER PEOPLE WHEN CARPOOLING AS A DRIVER?
Unfortunately, you cannot bring another person with you when you are commuting.
CAN I USE MY RIDER ACCOUNT?
Yes. You have the option on the uber Commute sign up page.
HOW IS MY CO-RIDER CHOSEN?
On the days you’re driving, switch on the app anytime between 7AM and 9PM. You’ll be prompted to enter your destination and we’ll then pair you up with another passenger heading the same way so you can share the journey and recoup your costs.
HOW DO I ACCEPT THE FIRST REQUEST?
You will receive the request from the first request rider. Accept this request. Start moving towards the first pick up as shown in Uber app. When you are commuting to your destination, keep the Uber app logged in. If we find a rider heading in your direction, you will get a screen which tells you the rider pick up, drop location and fare. You may choose to accept this ride by clicking anywhere on screen.
HOW DO I KNOW WHICH ROUTE TO TAKE TO PICK UP AND DROP OFF THE RIDERS?
You are advised to follow directions on map.
DO I ALWAYS HAVE TO ACCEPT A RIDER REQUEST?
No, this is NOT compulsory. Sometimes, you might NOT get a REQUEST. This is because, there was no other rider on the same route.
WILL I ALWAYS GET A RIDER?

WHAT DO I DO IF THE RIDER CANCELS THE TRIP?
If the rider cancels the trip, you’re app will reroute back to your original route and you may also receive a cancellation fee (if the rider cancels 5 min after the request was made)
WHEN CAN I CANCEL THE TRIP AND WHAT OPTION SHOULD I CHOOSE?
You can cancel trip only if:
– Three or more riders get into the car for ONE request in ONE location
– If rider takes more than 5 mins to get into the car after you have arrived at the location
CAN RIDERS CHANGE THEIR DESTINATION?
No, drop-off locations are fixed. Riders are not allowed to change their destination after they have requested a ride. If a rider wants to change their destination, kindly request that they cancel and request another Uber
WHAT IF MY PHONE RUNS OUT OF BATTERY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRIP?
Don’t worry. Our app is designed in such a way that your trip won’t get cancelled. Just switch on your phone when you get a chance and end trip when you drop the rider. As a best practice we urge you to carry your phone charger.
CAN I CHOOSE MY RIDERS?
No you cannot, our technology will connect you to the closest rider. You can decide to accept the trip, once accepted you shouldn’t cancel.
HOW MANY TRIPS CAN I DO SIMULTANEOUSLY?
You can do only one trip at a time.

Same as uberPOOL. Destination could be anywhere in the Bangalore service area

HOW WILL I RECOVER COSTS?
Costs recovered will get deposited in your bank accounts on a weekly basis. HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM UBERX OR UBERPOOL
uberCOMMUTE is designed to help people who are already driving to work share the cost of their commute by matching them with fellow commuters traveling in the same direction.
WHEN AND WHERE CAN I TAKE UBERCOMMUTE TRIPS?
uberCOMMUTE is available across the entire POOL geofence in Bangalore from 7AM – 9PM
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE? WILL I GO OUT OF MY WAY?
When you receive a request, you will also be notified how much more you may need to travel to pickup your co-rider. Most of the time, your travel time will not increase by more than 5 minutes.
WHAT IF A RIDER DOESN’T SHOW UP??
We’ll make sure riders understand that when they request a ride through uberCOMMUTE, their fellow commuter is depending on them to show up on time. As a commuter-driver, we suggest that you wait one minute after arriving before calling. If the commuter still hasn’t shown up after another minute, cancel the trip and continue driving.
